Material Care Information

This article summarizes the key materials used in Craster Products and highlights the Care Instructions for each material.

Care Information

Wooden Display Products:

  • This covers products made from solid and veneered timbers with a lacquered finish.
  • Timber products should not be placed in the dishwasher.
  • Cleaning & Maintenance Clean with a non-abrasive cloth using a mild detergent.
  • Clean with damp cloth to remove all detergent.
  • Dry by wiping off excess water with a towel, and dry thoroughly.
  • Caution Do NOT use abrasive scourers or cleaning products as this will damage the lacquer coating.
  • Caution DO NOT clean in the dishwasher.
  • DO NOT leave to soak in water.
  • DO NOT use under Heat Lamps.
  • DO NOT use on hot plate.

 

Oiled Wooden Display Products:

  • This covers products made from solid wood with a Mineral Oil finish.
  • Timber products should not be placed in the dishwasher.
  • Clean with a non-abrasive cloth using soap.
  • Rinse under running water to remove all detergent.
  • Dry by wiping off excess water with a towel, and leave to fully dry in a rack with the end grain exposed until fully dry - do not stack this item until dry.
  • This product should be re-oiled on a regular basis to maintain the natural oak.
  • We recommend using Craster Mineral oil. This product should be re-oiled as soon as it begins to feel dry.
  • Caution DO NOT clean in the dishwasher.
  • DO NOT leave to soak in water.
  • DO NOT use under Heat Lamps.
  • DO NOT use on hot plate.
  • Caution - strong coloured foods may stain oiled wood - use greaseproof paper for protection.

 

Powdercoat Metal Display Products:

  • This covers products made from from powder coated mild steel.
  • Powder coating offers a robust decorative surface protection, and prevents the underlying mild steel from rusting. Although the powder coat is tough, it can be damaged by improper use, handling or storage. Take particular care not to knock frames together or against hard surfaces.
  • The frames should be wiped clean with a slightly damp non-abrasive cloth, with a mild detergent.
  • Do not use strong cleaning chemical, alkaline, acidic or bleach. Storage: Do not allow the frames to remain in contact with liquids for a prolonged time.
  • Store cleaned and dried frames in a dry location.
  • Small sections of damage can be touched up using Craster touch up pens.
  • Caution DO NOT use abrasive cleaning products or chemicals, alkaline, acidic or bleach
  • DO NOT allow the frames to remain in contact with liquids for a prolonged time
  • DO NOT use in the dishwasher

 

Acrylic Products:

  • These items must be washed by hand with a soft cloth in order to avoid scratches.
  • Caution DO NOT use abrasive cleaning products or cloths as the material will scratch
  • DO NOT use in the dishwasher

 

Marble Display Products:
  • This covers product made from solid marble with a Lithofin Stain-Stop finish.
  • This product is finished with Lithofin Stain-Stop.
  • Please note that the Stain Stop will not prevent marking from acidic/ alkaline substances.
  • If in doubt use baking parchment/grease proof paper to protect the marble.
  • Use a triver or mat to prevent scratching and provide protection when using with hot items.
  • This product is not dishwasher safe. Clean with a non-abrasive cloth using soap.
  • Rinse under running water to remove all detergent.
  • We recommend reapplying Stain Stop coating to the product every 3-6 months depending on use. We recommend using Lithofin MN Stain-stop.
  • Caution DO NOT use abrasive scourers on this product as they will potentially scratch the surface.

Soda Lime Glass Food Display & Dispensing Products:

  • This covers product made from float glass some of which is hand blown (specifics can be found on the individual product webpage).
  • This product is not suitable for use in a dishwasher.
  • This product should be handwashed using a mild detergent and soft cloth.
  • Caution DO NOT use abrasive scourers on this product as they will scratch the glass.
  • DO NOT use in the dishwasher.
  • DO NOT use with hot liquids or subject to extreme changes in temperature.
  • Specific to the Juice Dispensers - Minor chipping around the tap hole is standard due to the handblown nature of the material and the manufacturing process - this is sealed and covered with the tap.

PVD Coated Stainless Steel Products (Copper & Brass finishes):
  • This covers product made from food grade stainless steel, with an external PVD coating.
  • PVD is a durable coating.
  • Stainless Steel and PVD are suitable for use in a dishwasher, however for best results we recommend washing by hand.
  • Wash with mild soap, water and a soft cloth.
  • Dry thoroughly after washing.
  • Caution DO NOT use abrasive scourers on this product.
  • DO NOT use any cleaning agents designed to remove tarnish/rust such as acidic or caustic agents or bleach.

 

Porcelain Products:

  • This covers product made from vitrified porcelain, with a food safe glazed finish.
  • This product is suitable for use in the dishwasher.
  • This product can be used in the microwave.
  • Caution DO NOT use abrasive scourers on this product as they will potentially damage the glazed finish.

 

Cork Products:

  • This covers product made from natural cork.
  • This product should be washed by hand only.
  • Wash with mild soap, water and a soft cloth.
  • Avoid soaking in water.
  • Leave to dry in a rack, or dry with cloth.
  • Caution Do NOT use abrasive scourers on this product.
  • Strong coloured liquids may stain cork.

 

Stainless Steel Polished Finish Products:

  • This covers product made from stainless steel with a polished finish.
  • Stainless steel is a resilient material but care should be taken to ensure it remains looking its best.
  • Finger prints can be removed with a microfiber cloth.
  • General cleaning can be achieved by using warm water and a pH-neutral washing up liquid.
  • Rub dry with a lint-free cloth in the direction of the finish to prevent stains from forming.
  • Caution DO NOT USE: Spirits, turpentine, bleach, caustic or aggressive cleaning agents. Abrasive sponges, hard brushes or steel wool.
  • The surface finish of the product may otherwise be permanently damaged.

 

Stainless Steel Polished Finish PCM (cooling units) Products:

  • This covers product made from stainless steel with a polished finish.
  • Stainless steel is a resilient material but care should be taken to ensure it remains looking its best.
  • Finger prints can be removed with a microfiber cloth.
  • General cleaning can be achieved by using warm water and a pH-neutral washing up liquid.
  • Rub dry with a lint-free cloth in the direction of the finish to prevent stains from forming.
  • Caution DO NOT USE: Spirits, turpentine, bleach, caustic or aggressive cleaning agents. Abrasive sponges, hard brushes or steel wool.
  • The surface finish of the product may otherwise be permanently damaged.
  • The Cooling (PCM) Tube is NOT suitable for dishwasher cleaning.

 

Transparent PETG Products:

  • This covers product made from PETG.
  • This product is only suitable for use with cold or ambient food products - Do Not Heat
  • Clean with a non-abrasive cloth using mild detergent
  • Caution DO NOT clean in the dishwasher
  • DO NOT use abrasive cleaning products or cloths as the material will scratch
  • DO NOT use with warm foods or under Heat Lamps

 

Heating Unit Products:

  • This covers product made from Dekton, Black Lacquered Oak/Ash, Electrical components.
  • Disconnect from Mains before cleaning.
  • Clean Oak/Ash sides using non-scouring sponge with a small amount of detergent and water.
  • Please make sure water is kept away from electrics. If water is to enter the unit please make sure unit is completely dry before being plugged back in.
  • Remove detergent with a damp rag.
  • Wipe down with a cloth and allow to air dry.
  • Caution DO NOT place food directly on to the surface of this product.
  • DO NOT use in the dishwasher.
  • DO NOT use abrasive cleaning products or cloths as the material will scratch.

Hot & Cold Trolley Products:

  • This covers product made from Dekton, Lacquered Oak/Walnut, Electrical components.
  • Disconnect from Mains before cleaning.
  • Clean Oak sides using non-scouring sponge with a small amount of detergent and water.
  • Please make sure water is kept away from electrics.
  • If water is to enter the unit please make sure unit is completely dry before being plugged back in.
  • Remove detergent with a damp rag.
  • Wipe down with a cloth and allow to air dry.
  • Caution DO NOT use abrasive cleaning products or cloths as the material will scratch.

Cool Tray Products:

These products comprises two parts: the Liner, which is made of Expanded Polypropelene (EPP), and the Cold Cell, consisting of an Anodized Aluminium body with two Glass-Filled Nylon end caps. Internally, the cell contains Hydrogel: a non-toxic substance composed of 90% water and 10% sodium polyacrylate.

  • Do NOT place Cold Cell or Liner in dishwasher.
  • Wipe clean with damp, non-abrasive cloth with mild detergent.
  • Caution Risk of frost burn.
  • Handle with care when frozen.
  • Wear insulated gloves.
  • Do NOT submerge Cold Cell or Liner in water.
  • Do NOT place Cold Cell or Liner in a dishwasher.
  • Wipe clean with damp, non-abrasive cloth with mild detergent.
  • Do NOT drop Cold Cell.
  • If damaged, cease use immediately and recycle responsibly.
  • If leaking, avoid inhalation, ingestion and skin contact with Hydrogel.
  • Do NOT remove plastic end caps from cell.

 

Slate Products:

This covers product made from natural slate with a mineral oil finish.

  • This product should be washed by hand only.
  • Slate is a natural material and needs to be handled carefully to avoid chipping.
  • This product has a protective mineral oil coating that should re-applied regularly (Supplied by Craster).
  • The coating can be damaged or degraded by improper cleaning and maintenance.

If this occurs, acidic food (citrus, etc) that come into contact with may mark the surface and leave a pale bloom. To remove the stain and refinish the products coating:

  • Hand wash the slate in warm water with a mild detergent, and a soft cloth.
  • Persistent stains can be removed with a stiff plastic bristled brush and a paste of baking soda and dish washing liquid. Repeat step 1.
  • Allow the product to fully dry overnight in a drying rack.
  • Apply a new coat of Craster food safe Mineral oil following the products instructions.
  • Leave the mineral oil to penetrate the slate and cure for 24hrs before recommencing use.

Caution DO NOT use abrasive scourers on this product.

 

Glass Furniture Products:

This covers product made from toughened float glass with UV bonded stainless steel locators.

  • To clean use glass cleaner and a clean cloth.
  • Do not clean with abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  • Clean spillages with neutral detergent diluted in warm water.
  • Caution DO NOT use abrasive cloths or cleaning solutions.

 

HPL (Wenge, Marble, Wood, Tabacco) Furniture Products:

This covers product made with an MDF core, with HPL surface and PU edging. Cleaning & Maintenance

  • To clean wipe with a damp cloth
  • Do not clean with abrasive cleaners or scouring pads
  • Clean spillages with neutral detergent diluted in warm water
  • Never use sharp objects such as knives directly on the surface of HPL
  • Use a protective pad underneath hot objects or ovenware
  • Caution DO NOT use abrasive scourers or cleaning products as this will damage the HPL surface.
  • DO NOT put hot objects or ovenware directly onto HPL surface.

 

Wenge Table Legs:

This item is made from solid oak/ash with a wenge lacquer finish.

  • Clean with a non-abrasive cloth using a mild detergent.
  • Clean with damp cloth to remove all detergent.
  • Dry by wiping off excess water with a towel, and dry thoroughly.
  • Caution DO NOT use abrasive scourers or cleaning products as this will damage the lacquer coating.

 

Steel Table Furniture Products:

These items are made from either mild steel with a powdercoated finish or a stainless-steel finish.

  • Epoxy powdercoat is a durable finish, which requires gentle cleaning to maintain.
  • Carefully remove any loose surface deposits with a wet sponge.
  • Use a soft cloth (non abrasive) neutral detergent diluted in warm water (DO NOT use solvents).
  • Ensure you thoroughly wipe the surfaces with clean fresh water after cleaning to remove all residues.
  • Caution DO NOT use abrasive cloths or cleaning solutions.
